A couple years ago I met a lovely woman from a little South of me on facebook. I dont even recall the group that it was that we met in, but were discussing getting some family photos back to a relative, and I was able to help her with that, I was so glad to hear from her that the items were returned to the persons daughter and it all ended exactly as it should have. While chatting with the woman a couple years back, she had told me about her Grandmother, who had disappeared in the late 50s, never to be heard from again. Seems she was born here in FL, married, married again if I remember right, had a couple of children, then remarried again and moved away, not taking her sons with her. She met another man and remarried and had a daughter with him. (I may have an extra marriage in there somewhere) Shortly thereafter, she and that husband broke up and she moved several states away with her daughter. Not long after, the story goes, is that the husband, went to the other state to retrieve the daughter, at the behest of his Mother, and no one heard from the baby's Mother thereafter. The daughter was then raised by her Paternal Grandmother. When the daughter was grown, in the 1980's she was back in the town her Mom had lived in, and the newspaper ran an ad for her, trying to locate her Mother, or any info regarding her whereabouts for the previous 30 or so years, it provided no leads. Me, being the one who watches too much "The First 48" automatically figured foul play was involved. I checked information on found remains between point A and point B, and found a couple who I thought could have been her...but then what do you do. I thought of her often, and how sad it was for her kids that she was just missing out there someplace. I tried all the avenues I could think of to locate her to no avail. I assumed the worst. Yesterday, the lady who lives South of me, got in touch, after quite some time to let me know that the photos had been returned and then she said it.... BTW she was found...I was flabbergasted! I announced it to my husband and he knew exactly who I was talking about!! It turns out, that after she moved away in 1958, she moved back to the same state and remarried again, yet another name change. She was married for nearly 10 years before her passing, at the young age of 37, after spending a few months in a nursing facility, never regaining consciousness following a fire at her home. Her death certificate did not contain her maiden name nor did it contain the names of her parents, so it was hard to track. I feel awful for her kids, now grown, who have thought the worst no doubt for many years, things ranging from, their Mother abandoned them, to the possibility of something horrible having happened to her. Im so glad she was found!!!!
